OUR FOREIGN CO-TEACHERS

I had a  brilliant chance to co-work with three amazing foreign teachers. All of them were absolutely  wonderful and the time spent  co-teaching with them was a precious experience to me. I  have  gained much  as from my  professional point of view as from the personal one. I try to keep in touch with them . The first and the most unforgettable  experience was our  dear Matthew Green, the young lawyer from Great Britain. I clearly remember every single moment of our co-teaching. Matthew turned out to be a writer as well, so all his participation in the studying process  was very helpful and creative. The next one was John Pinion,a PE  teacher from the USA. John's  involvement was a bit more timid, though, also helpful. And the last one - a magnificent NoMIChe, a beautiful young contortionist from Australia. Thanks to her exclusive adaptability and hard work, she deserved the highest praise from my students. How I miss them all! And how grateful I am for their support.

”....I was his "Best Man". In England this means that I was his specially chosen friend who basically accompanied him in the wedding ceremony and had to make a speech on his behalf at the wedding reception afterwards. I thought it would be nice for the students back at school to see me and to also have a look at what an English wedding looks like
..We are getting ready to move into our first home together that we own ourselves. This is a big thing in England as it is seen as a great achievement in life when you own your own house rather than renting. There are, naturally, lots of problems that come with including the worry that the house is a good investment of money or not!
It is what is known as a terrace house. These are very common in England and are particularly common in the north. They are made from red brick and are usually built in great rows of houses. They were originally built in the 1800's and early 1900's for the industrial workers and miners"

Liaocheng City is much bigger than we expected! There's a stunning river which wraps around the city and there's theatres, movie cinemas and so many restaurants all of which are very cheap to go to! We had dinner last night in a Korean restaurnant where there was an actual barbeque grill in the centre of the table so you can cook your own vegetables and tofu and mushrooms and season them as you like... devine!

The pollution here isn't bad at all either... when we look up... we can see clear blue skies... sometimes there's some smog but nothing like Beijing ... when we first arrived in Beijing our flight to Jinan was cancelled because of the pollution... we caught the train instead and the whole journey I couldn't even see more than a few meters in front of me because it was completely white and smokey... it doesn't smell though... not like i thought it would... nothing like India either..

Hmmmm... what else?

Our apartment is on the sixth floor (haha in Georgia it was the 5th floor - seems we're moving up a level every new apartment) so once again... our legs are getting a work out! Besides that one of my favourite things in China so far is the todler's clothing! Seriously it's funky as!!! Puffy bright coloured teletubby looking get-up with a bottom slit of course so for easy access when they want to go to the toilet :) I wish they had my size hahaha!!!

So that's China and us in a nutshell...

SO MUCH LOVE and radical chinese kiddy clothing!!

lychees with chopsticks

and BIG BIG HUGS AND KISSES to the students!

xxxxxOXOXOXOXOXOXO!!!

A couple of days ago  I  got a letter from NoMi in which she  told us about their coming celebration. The fact is her boyfriend Dawa and her decided  to get married. Here is an extract from her letter

"To our beautiful family & friends,

We have some special news to share ... on the next new moon (April 18th) we're marrying each other on a mountain top! The celebrations will begin on the new moon & climax on the full moon (May 4th). We chose these dates because the cycle of the moon has always been very significant to us and they are close to the ancient holidays Beltane, Walpurgis Night & May Day ... half way between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Beltane means 'bright fire' and the tradition is to build two fires ... moving between them is believed to purify the soul, circling them 3 times is believed to bring good luck and jumping over the flames with your beloved is symbolic of marriage ... we love it! So we're gonna do just that. No need for papers and signatures ... just us being wild and crazy together.

It will just be the two of us on the mountain ... so we ask that you take a moment on these 2 special days to light a candle, flick some paint on a canvas, have a glass of red wine, olives with avocado on crackers, a meditate, a rain dance ... however you would like to mark the occasion and celebrate with us in spirit. We adore you all and once we're back in Oz (or wherever we cross paths with you next) we would love to have a shared celebration with you.

Till then, singing saws & flaming guitars!
